Redact a payslip online
Payslips can contain your National Insurance number, payroll ID, tax code, address, and pay breakdown. Before sharing one, ask the recipient which fields they require and whether they accept a redacted copy. Wolf PDF applies redaction to text and image content in the regions you mark; review the exported file for remaining sensitive details.

Details to review before sharing
Review these fields against the requirements supplied by the recipient. Do not assume a field can be removed just because another recipient did not need it.
- National Insurance number and tax code
- Payroll or employee number
- Home address and other personal identifiers
- Deduction lines, such as pension contributions or union fees
Confirm what must stay visible
An income check may require the fields below, but requirements vary. Confirm them before marking the PDF so the copy retains the information requested.
- Your name and the pay period
- Employer name
- Gross pay, net pay, and any required deductions or totals
- Ask whether any identifiers or references must remain visible
Redact the copy, keep the original
Always work on a copy for sharing and keep the untouched payslip for your own records. If the payslip is a scan or photo, Wolf PDF erases the pixels inside each mark, so it works there too.

Can I redact my National Insurance number?
You can mark it for redaction, but first ask whether the recipient requires it and accepts redacted copies. Check for repeated instances on every page and review the exported file.
Will a landlord accept a redacted payslip?
Ask the landlord or referencing provider before redacting. Acceptance and required fields depend on their process; Wolf PDF cannot guarantee acceptance.
Is the redaction reversible?
Applied redactions remove text and image content in marked regions from the exported page, so keep your original. This is not a guarantee that repeated details, metadata, attachments, or other content elsewhere in the file have been removed.
Can I redact a photographed or scanned payslip?
Yes. On scanned pages the marked pixels are erased. Zoom in afterwards to confirm each mark fully covers the detail, including any faint or skewed text.
What should I check before redacting a payslip?
Confirm the required fields and acceptance of redacted copies with the recipient. Retain the original and keep pay figures unchanged. Wolf PDF does not determine the requirements for your application.
What happens to my payslip after processing?
Your PDF is uploaded for server-side processing in a temporary session. Session deletion is scheduled after processing, and periodic cleanup targets sessions older than 30 minutes. This is not a guaranteed deletion deadline. See Privacy for details of data handling.
